Dear iDEALS, yesterday afternoon, artist and dear friend Dinakar Anthony Kattashis aka Cusack invited me to his home to present me his collection of decorative accessories. A small selection of stunning
objects that add distinctive personality, texture and uniqueness to
interior spaces. He makes everything himself. I bought this wonderful vase which is around 40cm X 30cm. Among a number of other talents, Tony is also a tattoo artist and a mucisian. He shares his appartment with Naya Savva, also involved in art and together they have created a universe of their own in the heart of Nicosia.
Dear iDEALS, the brand new SPAZIO MARNI is situated in an old factory build in early 1920’s in viale Umbria 42, Milan, and covers over 1000 square meters.
Recent renovation project has been ideated to maintain the original architecture and linear geometry, as well as to disclose the transformations of the space in time, highlighting the patina created in decades. For the removal of materials, Marni favored specific procedure, that brings out the original finishing. What is more all areas dedicated to back offices are facing the street, thus giving the highest flexibility to the three big spans of the building, creating a functional and variable space. The concept of this multifunctional space is thought to accommodate all Marni’s activities: fashion shows, presentations of collections, spaces dedicated to the show room and to the special projects, which Marni evolves periodically in collaboration with artists, architects and associations.
On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2013 Marni has presented the new space through the project “100 chairs”, which includes models and colours linked to the idea of urban sitting rooms, and the workshop “ABI-tanti. The migrating multitude”, a project of the Education Department of the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea.
reflective is probably the best way to describe Antonio Marras’ showroom in Milan.
It makes people want to stay, to stop and, yes, reflect. It makes them want to stay and talk and sit and enjoy their surroundings taking in the collections displayed. No small feat.
It seems there’s no hurry, no posts to post, no tweets to tweet. Just the time to admire the craftsmanship of the clothes and the accessories. But what struck me most, yesterday, was the light, bounced around by a seemingly infinite amount of mirrors, fragments of movements focusing on details you might otherwise have missed. Antonio, the magician.
To experience a bit of the magic yourself visit the recently opened art café NONOSTANTEMARRAS,
Via Cola di Rienzo 8, 20144 Milano.
