Dear iDEALS, on Sunday January 27th, this year's Jury for the 28th Edition of Hyeres Festival had a meeting with Mr Jean Pierre Blanc and the Villa Noailles team at the Headquarters of this year's president of Jury, Mr Felipe Oliveira Baptista in Paris.
Although the selection of this year's ten candidate designers has already been decided & announced, I would like to share with you some photographs I did during the procedure that started early in the morning and finished late in the afternoon.
The Jury had to go through 53 dossiers that were already pre-selected at the Villa Noailles in December 2012 and passed (355 dossiers were received in total this year from nearly 60 different nationalities). As soon as the models were ready with the make-up and hair, the jury went through each dossier having the models wearing the looks of each designer.

THE CHASE...is about the chase for energy.
She's dark and moody at first, looking for opportunities.
She's searching for that special energy. While looking for herself, she becomes an animal in her hunting instincts, travelling through London at night.
Two men give her the power and she starts to become lighter.
Her eyes turn brighter and she finds more space.
The colour blue makes her thrilled.
She's dancing and dancing....

Dear iDEALS, Charlie Le Mindu's first Parisian Haute Couture show was titled "Metal Queen" after his muse Lee Aaron’s heavy-metal hit.. A haunting collection in black-and-white fusing Japanes leather pieces and of course natural hair .. Here's what he told me.
FilepMotwary: Hello Charlie, first of all, I would like to know one thing: how does it feel presenting your work as part of the Couture week in Paris?
CharlieLeMindu: It is nice I think since I feel more like I have my place at couture in Paris rather than during the Pret-a -Porter week. Its something I always dreamed of, showing during Couture as it fits better with my brand.
FM: How different is Couture compared to Pret-a-porter for you?
CLM: There are so many rules to follow and though it feels old-fashioned to some, I like this tradition. Also the press is different and the people coming to these shows are different. They seem much more relaxed and it is intimate as well..
FM: Who is this woman you presented?
CLM: I like my women to scare people, to get them exited and get horny even them. Women that are difficult to approach, to touch..
FM: What is so exiting about hair?
CLM: Well, first it is just an amazing material to work with, its a material I know since I was a kid and it works like a fetish to me. Its necessary as it keeps me working the way I do. With real hair you can play with color, shapes and textures..
FM: Where do you get your real hair since everything you make comes from genuine resource?
CLM: I get my hair from a company called "Hair Dreams" as quality is the most important ingredient in my work.
FM: How much time did you spend working on the collection?
Minju Kim, final-year student at the Antwerp Fashion Department, Royal Academy of Fine Arts - Artesis Hogeschool Antwerp wins the H&M Design Award 2013.
The award was presented this morning during a catwalk show at Stockholm
Fashion Week. Minju Kim participated with her 3rd Bachelor collection
'Dear My Friend', she receives €50.000 and her pieces from the winning
collection will be sold at selected H&M stores worldwide.
The
H&M Design Award is an annual initiative to support and encourage
future fashion talent. Bachelor students from 19 major fashion colleges
in eight European countries were invited to participate.
Maureen Declercq, teacher at the Antwerp Fashion Department:
"Minju
Kim's use of colour in combination with new studies on coupe and her
eye for perfection and finish makes her an excellent student at our
Academy. We are very proud that thanks to Minju Kim and H&M this
unique 'Antwerp' vision will be spread worldwide. Minju had the
opportunity to develop her vision on fashion during her Bachelor year.
From her inspiration and artistic graphical drawings she learned to
realize a contemporary collection at our school."
Walter Van Beirendonck, head of the Antwerp Fashion Department:
"This
Award is a great recognition of our individual and very specific way of
teaching and for the hard work of Minju Kim in particular, but also for
the whole team of teachers and students at the Fashion Department. It
is also a fantastic start of 2013, the year that both the Royal Academy
of Fine Arts Antwerp will celebrate its 350th anniversary and the
Fashion Department its 50th anniversary with an exhibition at the MAS
and MoMu in Antwerp in September!"
Leitmotiv man prefers streetwear to look original and casual, being optimist, passionate,
keen on life and the real world.
Sometimes visionary he loves to recall legends and myths of the enchanted forest, as tartan fabric
seems to evoke woods and atmosphere of past dreams.
For this reason and this season, double face jackets can swap from quilted nylon with jacquard inserts on one
hand to leather sleeves and the colored hood ready to spring out from the inside.

Thanks to Matilda Ricami embroideries, sweatshirts can change from a informal item to a unique and
precious garment, perfectly coordinated with hats and scarves made in jacquard and ample rucksacks.
Leitmotiv man loves to lose himself in the nature and gets fascinated by the romantic allure of the bush.
The Deer, the Spirit of the forest and the Brand itself, will guide himinto this metaphysical wood of every day astonishment.
