Following her graduation from Otis College of Art and Design, Sonia decided to widen her horizons and continue her education moving to Belgium where she studied at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp. This European fashion capitol would be where Sonia begins her career as a jewelry designer. Her first experience designing jewelry came during an apprenticeship with jewelry designer Pascale Masselis. Quickly catching the eye of other designers in Antwerp, Sonia was approached to collaborate with Stephane Schneider and Bernhard Willhelm, creating jewelry for his runway show in Paris.
From the beginning of her career Sonia Boyajian jewelry has been showcased in the world’s most revered boutiques, she has been featured in fashion’s most influential publications; W Magazine, NY Times, LA Times, Vogue Japan, Vogue Russia, WWD, Le Monde, and Wallpaper. Boyajian was also included amongst the 21st century new generation of fashion jewelers in the book “Fashion Jewellery- Catwalk and Couture”.
Vibrant and alluring with a sense of intimacy, as W Magazine put it Sonia Boyajian's work is “an explosive mix of girlish wit and off-kilter glamour… which has a surrealist sensibility a la Elsa Schiaparelli. Her signature aesthetic, like its designer, is charming, whimsical and quirkily eccentric as well as glamorous and sophisticated.
