Dear iDEALS, Maestro's Spring Summer 2013 collection “Theorema” draws inspiration from the role of science and mathematics in the evolution of human’s spirit embodied in Hypatia the Greek Neoplatonist philosopher in Roman Egypt who was the first historically noted woman in Mathematics.
She was the head of the Platonist school at
of Alexandria and she also taught Philosophy and Astronomy.
Hypatia embodies the ideal woman for Silvina, strong, intelligent and also believed to be extremely
beautiful.
The mathematician’s lifelong interest in conic sections is reflected in the conic shapes of the skirts and
the way the hems where cut to look like ellipses, hyperbolas and parabolas, just as in the conic
sections. Feminine silks are draped on top of masculine shirts where the classical and the modern world
meet...
