Dear iDEALS,
in the form of a gallery talk Boston (USA) born visual artist Jackie Nickerson is invited to respond to a selection of photographic works which encapsulate the evolving tradition of portraiture in photography through 19th and 20th Century, to contemporary visual artists whose choose to work with this subject today.
As represented in the exhibition Conversations: Photography from the Bank of American, Nickerson will explore the role and history of portraiture in social documentary, photojournalism and conceptual photography, discussing both the methodologies and aesthetics which continue to inspire her own artistic interests to capture people and their environments by photographic means.
